I'm always carrying a book to read where ever I go. My book fashion accessory has to be beautiful but DURABLE as well. Here are some of my bookmarks.

These were made from my grandmother's jewelry. There were alot of single earrings that I couldn't throw away because they were beautiful and I remember my grandmother wearing them.

The single pierced earrings are perfect for this. You wrap the post around your needle nose pliars and you have an instant eyelet. These don't pull open as easily as many splitrings do. The chain has to be smooth and of a small enough size not to break the binding or abrade the pages of the book. If you are a purist, you can use ribbon instead of chain and still adorn the ends of the ribbon with the jewels.
